What does music mean to you?

Music means many different things to different people. I want to know what music means to you. Does it make you happy, sad, upset, angry or whatever? What does music mean to you? For me, music is very soothing. I actually enjoy it more when listening to it in my car. I also like to watch a song being created, even though I get bored with the studio process. But, when the artist is done creating it...it is exhilirating....I love a good track! A good track gets me excited...I love a good melody...I have heard some of the best melodies ever on the Chapter 4: Labor pains album....so tell me what does music mean to you?

  1. Music means more than words can say for me. I feel incomplete without it. I need it on my commute to work. One day recently I left my Zune at home and I hummed tunes all the way to work.

So music is part of my life. It calms me...it gets me hyped...it makes me cry (I cannot listen to After The Love Is Gone at all...ever because it's way too emotional for me). It captivates me.

Heavy horns and bass lines are what really make me fall in love with a track (this is why I love Earth, Wind, & Fire and Raphael Saadiq). Strings get me too. I realize I'm in awe of the harp. It is the most beautiful instrument ever.

And vocal tones are what draw me into singers. I absolutely love the way Syleena hums and ad libs and I'm in heaven everytime Ledisi squeals. True vocalists who make the art of music appear so easy.

  2. Music to me means wordless emotions of affection, it helps your soul understand things your mind cannot….it’s like when you see somebody that you’re in love with but you never say a word to that person but only give eye contact, it feels good. Music means history starting from R&B straight down to Blues and everything else in the middle……from Kelly Price to B.B. King. ...but I’m young so what do I know??? But that’s what it means to me.

  3. Music is food to me. My body doesn't just hunger for edible variety, but also emotional instigation. This I can get from writing music, as well as listening to music. Music feeds not only, my body, but my heart and soul. It is the soundtrack of my life. I don't know if I could live without it. It lives in my head all day and night. A world without music is like a world without sound. Without it. . . we may as well all be mimes.
